Yomiwatari / I Shall Trample Humanity Underfoot ~The Omniscient, Omnipotent, Strongest, Invincible, Absolutely Superior One~

Chapter 1 — I vs. the Demon Lord

I have been reincarnated.

I retain no memory of anything before that. I erased it myself.

What remains to me amounts to precisely three things. That the Goddess who reincarnated me is extremely irritating. That I spent the Goddess's Gift bestowed upon me at reincarnation—[The Power to Have Any One Wish Granted]—to become a being who is [Omniscient, Omnipotent, Strongest, Invincible, Absolutely Superior]. And that I then used that omnipotence to change myself from a newborn [Mofu], the weakest monster there is, into a human boy of about fifteen.

Why the Goddess irritates me, I could not tell you. I erased that part.

I could restore it with my omnipotence, of course. But I am the one who erased it, so I shall not go to the trouble.

Being reincarnated as a Mofu may have had something to do with it.

I was naked, so I created a white T-shirt and black shorts—already worn.

Then I set a nearby Mofu on my shoulder.

That particular Mofu is, technically speaking, the parent who gave birth to me. But I did not bring it along because it is my parent. I simply wanted a cute pet.

A Mofu is a monster that looks like a steamed bun that sprouted fur, and its white coat is as fine as a pedigreed cat's.

Its round little eyes are adorable, and its nose is soft and squishy like a cat's paw pad.

Its mouth is tiny, and it licks minerals up off the ground with a tiny tongue.

The animal a Mofu most resembles is a hamster. The animal it most resembles in strength is also a hamster.

So despite being a monster, a Mofu is weaker than most animals. It is entirely harmless, which is why almost no one bothers to hunt them.

Incidentally, the noise it makes is "pu, pu."

"Heeey, Goddess. I'm about to ruin absolutely everything you've worked for, all right?"

Having said this to the sky, I turned to face forward again.

Ahead of me stood the Demon Lord's castle.

The Goddess reincarnates humans and sends Heroes into this world for one purpose: to defeat the Demon Lord and preserve the peace of humankind.

Naturally, I have no intention of fulfilling any such mission. On the contrary—I shall take the Demon Lord's position for myself and wipe humanity out.

All of it, every last bit, purely to spite the Goddess.

I am destroying humanity without so much as a shred of justification, which makes me evil in the truest and most genuine sense.

"First, I want a base of operations."

I could conjure a magnificent castle in an instant, but there was an eyesore of a building already standing here, so I decided to take that instead.

That building being the Demon Lord's castle.

In which, naturally, the Demon Lord resides.

I have arrived. He has sensed my presence. And yet the insolent wretch has not vacated his seat.

What a shameless, arrogant, oblivious fool.

I teleported to the front of the castle, smashed through the main gate, and walked in.

Blowing away the knightly soldier-monsters lying in wait as I went, I strode deeper inside.

On reaching the second floor, a monster of some presence appeared.

A thickly black-furred, heavily muscled beast stood planted in my path with an enormous axe.

It looked like someone had built a minotaur out of a fighting bull. A pair of slightly upturned horns jutted proudly from its head.

"So you have come, Hero. I am Bestia, one of the Four Heavenly Kings who serve the Demon Lord. The Beast Master who commands all beastkind."

"I am not a Hero. You benighted, dull-witted, thoroughly out-of-place idiot."

One glare from me, and Bestia's horns, arms, and legs folded inward toward its belly as its body shrank before my eyes.

Curled into a small ball like an egg on a plate, it could do nothing but wobble slightly.

I stepped on it on my way past.

Firmly enough, I might add, that my foot made contact with the floor.

I took the stairs at the back of the second floor and arrived on the third.

There, a large bipedal robot stood squarely waiting.

Blades and firearms were mounted all over its frame.

"I AM MACHINA. ONE. OF THE FOUR HEAVENLY KINGS. WHO SERVE THE DEMON LORD. I AM. FULLY CUSTOM—"

"Too slow!"

One glare from me, and Machina jumped with a bang, black smoke pouring out of it everywhere.

There was a faint hissing of escaping air.

Completely destroyed. Rebooting: permanently impossible.

"In the way."

I annihilated the junk in an instant—deleted it, rather. It simply blinked out of existence.

Why didn't I just do that from the start? Because tormenting it is more fun, obviously!

I went up to the fourth floor.

Waiting on the fourth floor was a dark elf.

Brown-skinned, with sharply pointed ears, draped in a black mage's robe, holding a wooden staff whose head clutched a purple orb in five wooden fingers.

And greedily, a hefty crossbow slung across its back as well.

"I am Beneficus, one of the Four Heavenly Kings who serve the Demon Lord. Who are you? State your name."

"I have no name. And do not presume to learn mine. The nerve."

I produced a black hole above its head, and the dark elf was sucked in of its own accord.

I dispelled the black hole and moved on.

I went up to the fifth floor.

On the fifth floor was a dark knight. Its solemn, black-gleaming armor gave off the air of a veteran of many battles.

And he duly launched into the customary introduction.

"I am Bellator, one of the Four Heavenly Kings who serve the Demon Lord. But I have no wish to fight. Will you not turn back? I believe demonkind and humankind could yet live side by side. To that end—"

"Nope~. I'm destroying both of them, so, nope~."

I cut the dark knight open with a knife-hand strike.

Armor and all, clean through from left shoulder to right hip. He collapsed where he stood.

Then he went up with a roar and vanished without leaving so much as ash.

I keep doing things twice over, you say? That's the point—I'm showing off!

I went up to the sixth floor, the topmost.

At the far end of the top floor stood a sumptuous throne.

Empty.

"Fled, has he."

The Demon Lord—magnificent horns, nothing else to recommend him—was flying for the far edge of the Demon Realm at top speed, face drained white.

How do I know that? Because I am omniscient. Obviously!

Incidentally, the Demon Realm is not a separate world or anything of the sort. It is simply what they call the sunless stretch of land where only demonkind live.

It shares a border with the human lands. "Demon Realm" is closer to a country's name than anything else.

The Four Heavenly Kings stood and faced me. Their lord ran for his life.

Pathetic, you say? Call himself a Demon Lord, you say?

Fool! It is the opposite. The opposite!

He is a Demon Lord for a reason. He recognized the overwhelming gap in power between us and played the best move available to him.

A king must survive above all others, and one glance at how his Four Heavenly Kings fared made it obvious that I would hear no one out.

Even if he had prostrated himself and offered to serve me, I am cold-blooded enough to have disposed of him on the spot.

So fleeing was unquestionably the best move.

Not that fleeing gets anyone away from me.

"Demon Lord. Drop dead."

Far, far from the castle, the Demon Lord flying at full speed died instantaneously, crashed into a mountain, and tore a great gouge out of its face.

The Demon Lord was dead—but I did not want the Goddess getting the wrong idea and thinking the job was finished, so I ordered all demonkind except the Mofu to attack people.

My orders cannot be disobeyed. Filled with a sense of purpose, demonkind set off bloodshot-eyed in search of humans.

Incidentally, I spared the Mofu purely for the scenery.

I sat down on the throne of the Demon Lord's castle—My Castle, now—and snapped my fingers.

In that instant, the castle's gloomy interior transformed into something dazzling and predominantly white.

I could have renovated without the snap, of course. But one must consider the mood.

I sank hips and back into plush red upholstery trimmed with gold, crossed my legs, and laid both arms along armrests wrapped in golden silk.

And through all of it: white T-shirt, black shorts. Those stay.

Why? Because it really sells how little I think of every single visitor, doesn't it?

And so: reincarnated, I am no Hero, no Demon Lord, nothing at all. I shall destroy the world simply as myself.

Oh—not rule it. Destroy it. Don't get that wrong.

Doing it all at once would be boring, though, so I'll destroy it a little at a time.

Reducing every last thing the Goddess does to wasted effort, and savoring the sight of her grinding her teeth over it.
