Yomiwatari is a place where Japanese web novelists bring their stories to English readers themselves.
Japan publishes an enormous number of web novels, but only a fraction ever reaches English. Most readers meet these stories through unofficial machine translations — made without the author, flattening every character into the same voice. We believe the person who carries a story across a language should be the one who wrote it.
So the author stays in charge here. Yomiwatari's job is to build tools that make that as effortless as possible: a translation studio where the author sets each character's voice, locks in recurring terms and the narrator's tone, and reviews the full English text before publishing it. The voice stays theirs, chapter after chapter.
The reader is built for reading: switch between light and dark themes, adjust the text size, and pick up right where you left off. No account is needed.
This site is an early experiment. Whether it grows — or continues at all — rests on what readers actually read, and on what you tell us.
If you have thoughts, requests for stories you want in English, feedback on the translations, or partnership and collaboration inquiries: You can reach us at yomiwatari.test@gmail.com — we read everything.
