Yomiwatari is a place where Japanese web novelists decide how their own stories reach English readers.
Japan publishes an enormous number of web novels, but only a fraction ever reaches English. Most readers meet these stories through translations made without the author: nobody asked, nobody checked, and every character ends up speaking in the same flat voice. The person who wrote a story should be the one who decides how it sounds in another language.
So the author stays in charge here, and we will be plain about how that works. Every work is here because its author chose to put it here. A machine writes the first draft of the English. Before it does, the author reviews the machine's reading of their own text, in Japanese: who is speaking each line, each character's manner of speech, the spelling of every name, the terms that have to stay consistent from chapter to chapter. Those corrections are pinned to the work and carried into every later chapter, so names and terms do not drift. Afterwards the whole English chapter is read through by a person, and nothing is published until the author is willing to publish it. They can take a work down themselves, at any time, without asking us.
We are not claiming this matches a skilled translator working from scratch. We are claiming that the author is in charge of it, that nothing here was taken from anyone, and that if the English reads badly we would like to be told.
